Spokane Nursing Home Workers Unite With SEIU Healthcare 775NW
In Spokane this winter, 96 nursing home workers at the Avalon Care at Northpointe nursing home united with SEIU Healthcare 775NW, the long-term care workers union. This is the 20th nursing home at which workers have united with SEIU in the last year and a half. They can now begin negotiating together with their employer to improve wages and benefits.
"Thanks to funding from the state legislature, we’re working with management to figure out ways to improve care for our residents," said Jocelyn Stiles, CNA. "Now we will be able to bargain a contract that will improve wages and benefits for staff."
